Many of the items available for purchase at TheNaturista utilize plant and animal products: flowers, shells, feathers, wings, etc.
Shell Collection
All of our shells are collected right on the beaches of the American southeast seaboard by us or a member of our team.
We will never use manufactured, store-bought shells because we think they take away from the naturalness of the sea. No two shells of ours are identical, so every set we sell is literally one-of-a-kind.
We do not buff, polish, or otherwise try to perfect these jewels of nature. The only things we do is clean and coat them, which insures that all our items are sanitary and have some protection against day-to-day wear. That said, many of our pieces are delicate and are not recommended for small children.
Feather Collection
We purchase our feathers from a processor to ensure proper health and safety guidelines are followed for poultry/fowl. We do not condone or utilize items that have come from factory farms.
Wings
Occasionally we discover dead insects during our hikes that are then turned into jewelry. We have used dragonfly, cicada, and butterfly wings in our items. Due to the scarcity of these resources (how often do you come across a perfectly-preserved dead dragonfly?) we cannot do custom orders with these items or guarantee when/if they’ll be in stock.
Plant Collection
Our plant and flower items are either collected by a member of our team or purchased locally.
Animal-Products and Vegan Items
Some of our bath and body care are vegan, with one exception being our goat milk products. Items that are vegan are clearly labeled in their descriptions. We do not consider any item created with beeswax vegan.
