Perseverance is a such beautiful thing and I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to persevere and to overcome the odds when things in life seem stacked against you.
Nature is an incredible teacher of perseverance. Despite all obstacles, and in spite of so much, nature almost always bounces back. Natural disasters, droughts, floods, fires, frosts…if you wait long enough, new sprouts will grow. Wildlife returns. Nature goes back to normal.
It happens instinctively.
Nature doesn’t question.
Trees don’t wonder why their leaves are dying and going away. They don’t stress over the idea that they might be gone, never to return. They simply be: they grow, they bloom, their blossoms and leaves die, and they come back again. Year after year, they survive and even thrive.
Similarly, animals never seem to worry about from where their next meal will come, nor is the idea of working for their livelihood beyond them. They make the best of their surroundings, find incredible places to build their homes, and raise their babies with the same mentality.
The world is littered with abandoned cities, covered with vines, trees and brush growing, animals everywhere. Where humans give up, nature takes over. In the most chaotic areas of destruction, nature returns.
Nature is so adaptable. It perseveres despite the odds. When things get tough, it keeps going. Cut a tree, clear a field, build a road… after enough time, new shoots will grow. The perseverance of nature always prevails, and hopefully it always will.
I’m trying to be more like nature. Trusting that no matter what happens, I’m striving to have absolute faith that life will go on. Despite the obstacles and the odds, I will keep growing, I will keep thriving, I will blossom.
I will persevere, and I hope you do too.
